Anita Wood . . . a history of community involvementAnita Wood has lived in Southern Nevada for almost her entire life. She bought a home with her husband in the City of North Las Vegas in 1993. Her civic involvement began in 1995 in her very own backyard. She and her neighbors learned of a plan to install tall apartment buildings in a neighborhood of cozy single family homes. No one in the neighborhood had been informed of the plan, so Anita got together with her neighbors and started asking tough questions. It took five years of hard work and pounding the pavement, but in the end Anita and her husband along with other of local residents succeeded in changing the way the City of North Las Vegas handles zoning changes by prohibiting Resolutions of Intent. Encouraged by the early success she had in protecting neighborhoods, Anita continued her volunteer work. Frequently people responded to her “can do” approach and asked her to take leadership roles. Other times, Anita would be one of the behind the scenes volunteers making sure everything got done. Either way, Anita Wood makes contribution."). Anita’s North Las Vegas volunteer work includes participation in many civic groups. Below is a list of some of her participation.
